In 2022, CBI has verified over 500 senior executives with 4000+ records of employment, education, and professional qualifications. Red flags were identified in at least 10% of the records, with the majority related to falsification of education background, including concealing school dropouts and fake certificates.
According to Forbes, degree mill industry is estimated to be generating $7 billion a year, meaning there are a lot of unqualified candidates holding degrees issued by unaccredited institutions. Hiring these candidates, especially the leadership roles in your company, would pose significant Reputational Risk.
